Jekyll & Hyde Revival, Starring Constantine Maroulis and Deborah Cox, Books Richard Rodgers Theatre

The forthcoming Broadway revival of Jekyll and Hyde will open at a yet to be determined date in April 2013 at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, according to show star Constantine Maroulis' Twitter page. Featuring previously announced stars Constantine Maroulis, Deborah Cox and Teal Wicks, the production will be directed and choreographed by Jeff Calhoun. Jekyll & Hyde was conceived for the stage by Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cuden, with a book and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse and music by Wildhorn. The production will play a pre-Broadway engagement September 7-30 at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts in California. A 25-week national tour will follow before the show moves into the Rodgers Theatre.

In addition to Maroulis as Dr. Jekyll, Deborah Cox as Lucy and Teal Wicks as Emma Carew, the tour cast will also include Laird Mackintosh as John Utterson and Richard White as Sir Danvers Carew, plus David Benoit, Jerry Christakos, Dana Costello, Wendy Fox, Brian Gallagher, Sean Jenness, Mel Johnson Jr., Miles Johnson, James Judy, Ashley Loren, Courtney Markowitz, Aaron Ramey, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Rob Richardson, Blair Ross, Doug Storm, Haley Swindal and Jason Wooten.

Based on the book The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the musical is the story of a London doctor who creates an alternate personality in an attempt to cure his father’s mental illness. The result is Mr. Hyde, an evil alter ego that causes violence and destruction. Jekyll & Hyde originally opened on April 28, 1997 at Broadway’s Plymouth Theatre, earning four Tony Award nominations.
